Class Structure
This course is designed for students who have little to no experience with the Vietnamese language.
- Students must be 13 and older to enroll!
- This is an online, interactive 1 on 1 class in real-time.
- Class is conducted through Zoom.
- Materials such as books, Google Docs and Sheets will be shared with you.
What you'll learn
- Foundational Lessons: Dive into a textbook designed specifically for beginners, providing you with a solid foundation in Vietnamese.
- Pronunciation and Grammar: Receive comprehensive guidance on pronunciation and grammar to ensure you communicate effectively and accurately.
- Practical Skills: Enhance your speaking and listening abilities, learn slang, and immerse yourself in Vietnamese culture. We’ll also practice reading to help you speak sentences fluently.
- Video Package: Benefit from two 30-minute review and preparation videos to help you reinforce what you’ve learned and get ready for our classes.
Learning Outcome
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Walk into a conversation in Vietnamese with confidence.
- Confidently listen, read, and write in Vietnamese, and fluently speak on various occasions, such as greeting others, introducing yourself (name, age, nationality, languages spoken, occupation, favorite food/drink, favorite travel destinations, phone number), and asking and answering questions using different verbs, adjectives, and expressions.
- Engage in full conversations with locals about basic topics.
- Express your feelings and give compliments effectively.
- Navigate shopping experiences, including bargaining and discussing different types of clothes and colors.
Class Policies
Attendance
- Attendance plays a critical role in student success, therefore, all students are expected to attend classes and arrive on time.
- If you’re absent due to sickness or an emergency situation, please notify me at least 1 hour before our lesson time! You’re welcome to reschedule our class 1 time to another slot in your availability.
Study Time
- To maximize your learning experience, please plan for approximately 2-3 hours of at-home study time for every hour of class. This includes reviewing in-class materials, watching lessons videos, memorizing vocabulary, and completing homework. Your dedication will greatly enhance your progress!
